Speedlock Pallet Live Storage Racking System (PLS) consists of a number of gravity conveyor lanes ranged side by side and one above another. Pallets are located at the upper end of the slope and travel through the block on rollers; and they queue up at the lower end of the lanes. This system features excellent space utilization. Pallets come out of each lane in the same sequence as they went in. There is no possibility of one being overlooked-most important when dealing with perishables. This system is often suitable where large stocks of the same products require accommodation over short periods. Fork truck mileage is often much less than with static pallet storage; consequently running costs are reduced. All types of handling equipment can be considered, and frequently a general-purpose counterbalanced truck can be employed. Pallets have to be of a suitable type. The lane depths must be carefully planned and put only one product type in each lane. |
Speedlock Very Narrow Aisle Racking (VNA):
Speedlock VNA Racking is one kind of system based on Selective Pallet Racking (SPL SPR).
Advantages include:
The principal advantage of VNA racking is the combination of relatively high density with 100% individual selectivity. Throughput speed can be more rapid than with conventional trucks and layouts. VNA trucks can operate at greater heights than conventional trucks up to 14m.
Special requirements:
1) Special VNA forklift truck and guidance systems
2) Very flat engineered floor surface
3) Semi automatic pallet positioning controls for accurate high level
placement and retrieval
4) Obviously it must have excellent rigidity and close engineering
tolerances
5) Beams at all storage levels unless low profile rails or wire guidance
system adopted

Speedlock Selective Pallet Racking (SPR):
SPR is the simplest of all pallet storage systems providing direct access to all pallets, and is the most economical in terms of equipment and capital cost. It is also speedily installed and simple to adjust, but the density of storage is less than with other formats because of operating aisle requirements.
Advantages include:
1) Strength and rigidity prevents compression damage to goods; pallets
can be located, accessed and moved individually
2) Suits almost all types of palletized goods
3) Easy relocation or addition of load supporting beams to accommodate
new load sizes and / or additional levels
4) Rapid throughput and handling
5) Compatible with most types of handling equipment, building structures
and floor surfaces, utilizes available and otherwise wasted headroom
6) Lowest level pallets can be placed on the floor
Special requirements:
when SPR is built above a height of 8 meters, high reach handling equipment is needed which may require engineered floors. Additional vertical clearance is required in floor location to permit rising of pallet above reach truck chassis legs.

In general, a high-rise warehouse is one that high-rise structures can be up to 30m high. Running and especially manpower costs can be surprisingly low. To be effective, high-rise installations must be planned in meticulous detail to perform the functions which the user requires. Initial capital costs per pallet place are relatively high and adjustability is very limited. An ongoing servicing programme is of particular importance. |
