Chemical name: 2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate

It is a light-yellow or yellowish brown transparent and volatile liquid with a slight aromatic odour, b.p. 74°C (1mmHg), d420 1.42. The solubility in water is 1%, soluble in most organic solvents; easily hydrolyzes in alkaline solutions; corrosive to iron or soft steel.

Dichlorvos is strong poisonous to pests with stomach poisoning, contact poisoning and fumigation action. It is mainly used on cotton, fruit trees, vegetable, sugarcane, tobacco, tea and mulberry for controlling pests. It can also be used for public health and grain storage pests controlling.

Toxicity: acute oral LD50 to rats is 56-108 mg/kg, acute dermal LD50 to rats is 75-210 mg/kg.
